The Player Broker Story

Whilst PB is still in its relative infancy, the journey which bought about its creation has been a long one. I started this project now as my own playing career still continues, but is in its final stages. 

I began my journey as a player in my teens, travelling overseas as many young players do. Over the next 10 years I had many experiences, playing across 6 different countries both professionally, at semi pro level (even, several times, flirting the the dreaded prospect of amateur football!).  Throughout this time my view on the game was moulded in a specific way, and I had a unique experience, making my living as a player with somewhat of an outsider background. Never had pro academies under my belt, never had an extensive network. Still I managed to earn a living from the game and play at a respectable level. 

At the age of 26, I began to transition into working with players, not just competing against them. This experience, assisting players to move abroad and explore opportunities then gave me further insights into the player experience, this time from the position of the 'agent' or 'intermediary'. After years spent as a a young player constantly seeking new opportunities, I found myself as the holder of those opportunities.

The only problem was I saw how much disregard and cynicism was given to players. Intermediaries, coaches and agents all worked supposedly for the player but eventually their own incentives came first, always. Players were overcharged for help, sent to teams where they wouldn't play or wouldn't progress, often times they weren't paid. 
 

Finally I set out on my own to do things in the right way. The things I had experienced as a player; the dismissal (at times the condescension), the extreme competition, the poor advice or the lack of guidance at all, were all things I sought to rectify and push against for the large group of players who are seeking their next opportunity. I seek to assist those with strong backgrounds who seek a pivot in their career, players with strong backgrounds who are looking for a strong finish for their final playing years, or younger players who are eager for experience and, above all, game time. Through my extensive network and an already growing cohort of successful placements, I am proud to continue to serve players in opening new doors for themselves!​​
